SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) has continued to its dream run at the worldwide box office on Saturday with the gross collection crossing the mark of ₹100 crore in just two days.
"Baahubali - the Beginning", which has been promoted as the India's biggest motion picture, had paid premieres in the US and other key international markets. The film garnered huge response with its collection crossing one million in these shows.
The huge hype surrounding the film helped "Baahubali - the Beginning" register a huge amount of advance booking. On 10 July, the movie released in 4,200 cinema halls across the globe and opened to humongous response with many theatres running into packed houses on the first day. Before its release, trade experts had predicted that "Baahubali - the Beginning" would collect ₹30-₹35 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day. But everyone was awestruck, when the actual numbers came in on Saturday afternoon. After seeing the first-day collection figures, they went on to describe the "Baahubali" fever as insane.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" grossed around ₹75 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day. Its first day net collection and distributors' share stand at ₹62 crore and ₹45 crore respectively in the global market. Its collection is bigger than the business of recent biggest opener "PK" starring Aamir Khan.
The strong word of mouth took the business of "Baahubali - the Beginning" upwards on Saturday. The figures of its second day are still being compiled. If we are to go by the early estimates, the film has grossed over ₹60 crore at the worldwide box office on the second day. Its Saturday net collection stands at ₹50+ crore, which is lower than its business on Friday.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" had some extra shows in many centres across the globe in the wee hours of Friday. And the ticket price for these shows was as high as ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 in some regions.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" has grossed ₹135 crore at the worldwide box office in two days and its net collection stands at ₹112 crore in the global market. With this, the movie has smashed old records of not only Telugu films, but also Bollywood films like "PK", "Krish" and "Chennai Express".
Made on a budget of ₹250 crore, the Prabhas-Rana Daggubati-Tamannaah-Anushka Shetty starrer has set a new benchmark in the history of Indian cinema. "Baahubali - the Beginning" has shown the world that the Indian cinema is nothing less than Hollywood or other International film industries in production, marketing and box-office collection.
