Odds are there are dozens of HD channels
broadcasting over the air in your area
right now. If you're looking to cut the
cable cord and save some money, all you
need to view them is a decent OTA
antenna. We asked you for your favorites
last week , and then looked the five best
OTA antennae . Now we're back to
highlight the winner of our poll.
Taking the top spot far and away with
over 53% of the overall vote was the Mohu
Leaf ; the paper-thin omnidirectional
antenna that can be mounted anywhere,
comes in amplified and unamplified
versions, and has a solid track record of
great reception.
In second place with close to 15% of the
vote was the Clearstream 2, another
Lifehacker favorite. A directional antenna
with great range and indoor/outdoor
capabilities, it's a worthwhile investment
if you know the direction of the broadcasts
you want to pick up. Third place goes to
the Terk HDTVa with close to 14% of the
votes cast, another directional model that's
small enough to be used indoors. The
Winegard Flatwave antenna, very similar
to the Mohu Leaf, came in fourth place
with close to 13% of the vote, and bringing
up the rear was the most affordable
antenna in the bunch, the RCA ANT1050 ,
a $10 model that you can pick up if you
want to see if anything is available in your
area before investing in something more
expensive.
